No Other lyrics

All alone you say
That you don`t want no other
So the Lord is love
And love is like no other
If the falling tide
Can turn and then recover
All alone we must
Be part of one another

All alone you say
The power is perfection
Is the power peace
Or merely the connenction
To the God of Love
That powers the protection
From the tide of life
That flows in each direction

When the stream of changing days
Turns around in so many ways
Then the pilot of the mind
Must find the right direction

  • Gene Clarke is criminally overlooked, he made some brilliant records on his own, with Doug Dillard and the Byrds, all were great and genius is often missed by the masses, if you don't dig him after hearing this slice of psych inspired beauty then you want your head testing, and if you look deeper you'll find a varied and masterful body of work.

  • Great song. Gene Clark should have had a monster album with this one. Must have been blacklisted in the music industry.

  • A really great tune! I must admit that outside of The Byrds, I've been totally ignorant of Gene's music. Well thanks to YouTube postings, that's going to change...It seems that Gene was deserving of far greater success than he was able to achieve...

  • @Mactavish74 and don't forget Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon and Randy Newman...

  • "All along, we must be part of one another..."

I feel this to be true, but how do I confirm it?

  • check out gene with carla olson " gypsy rider"

  • Who is that pilot of the mind?

  • @bloderme

    Wow, you are cracked

  • Let’s be honest, it’s all downhill after The Byrds but Gene Clark was the best songwriter among them and not even the Seventies can change that. The songs here are pretty good. What drags a few of them down are some choices which seem indulgent now but to be fair he was probably bored with what we all consider to be a classic sound.

  • The demo versions on the cd are great. A case in point: Lady of the North – the studio version is a music nightmare and almost unlistenable but the demo version is just beautiful.
