@il0707 In the Caucasus Region, you are either prepared, or a fool. Of course Russia was ready, so was anyone else with brains. That doesn't mean they started the war. The South Ossetian War started because Georgia used BM-21 Grad and Dana Artillery to hit Russian civvies in Tskhinvali and an internationally recognized Russian Peacekeeping base. There is no reason that justifies the attack.

And I'm from California, the state that didn't vote for McCain or Bush.

@il0707 Grom-2 entered service in 1995, so yeah, I'd call that modern. Also, Igla entered service in 1983. Buk entered service in 1979. What's modern to you, something that was designed last year? All three are capable of taking out modern planes.

And De Facto - Abkhazia is a sovereign country. As is South Ossetia. Next time think twice before hitting civilians and Russian Peacekeeping Bases with cluster munitions from BM-21 Grad Rocket Launchers and Dana Artillery.

OK people, You are right. I must admit it was Georgia's Empire which invaded poor small country - Russia (not vice versa!!!) two hundred years ago and ruled it till 1918 and then again took control in 1921 and killed thousands of them, and then after 70 years, when small country of Russia wanted to claim its independence Georgian Tanks dispersed Russians and in 2008 it was all the same: Georgians were on half way to Moscow when US forces and EU diplomats made them to stop!!! Everyone happy?
