January 9th 2008 - Accident in Rishpon on Kavish Hahof

With the latest round of the intifada, troop losses, the terror attack in Rehovot, rock throwing in Ramalah and a barrage of kassam rockets, one may be of the misconception that a Jewish Israeli would not lift a single finger for an Arab.

Today on a stretch of uneventful highway 2 in Israel, also known as Kavish Hahof, the uneventful turned eventful. A vehicle traveling northward through the Rishpon area with Arab workers was involved in a terrible high speed accident.

Within moments of accident, Jewish Israelis jumped into action and helped and comforted the injured driver and his passengers, even supporting the drivers head with coats and clothing.

The driver who appeared to be seriously injured, was being encouraged by regular Israelis who feared the driver may have injured his spine to resist moving about and to stay still.

Another passenger was sitting on the road with his back to the median. He began to shiver and shake and appeared to also be seriously injured.

One Israeli ran to his vehicle and brought out a brand new looking sleeping bag to cover the injured passenger in hopes of preventing the injured from going into shock (This bag went with the victim to keep him warm as he was transported to the hospital.)

Just beyond the accident a large blue tour bus loaded with soldiers pulled over to the side of the road.

Pilling out of the bus were medically trained paramedics. It is unclear whether the bus driver himself or the soldiers were responsible for this grand gesture, but one thing was for certain, they came to help and they provided first responder treatment with expediency.

In no time Israelis dressed in military green with medical training were checking pulses, assessing for injuries and contusions and asking questions to gauge mental awareness.

There were paramedic trained soldiers treating each of the three victims and assessing each. There appeared to have been a fourth Arab passenger who appeared uninjured yet shaken up.

With all the attacks on the citizens of Israel by Hamas and their deep hate for Jewish people that they base on their version of the Muslim religion, they have not change the basic humanity nor the heart of Israel.

Being a brothers keeper has no better demonstration than these many many selfless heroes.

To add a note: I help as much as I could. I had the people switch off the cars ignition, called for someone to get a blanket, and directed traffic aside to allow the approaching ambulance a hole through traffic. The police took over traffic control. I backed off medical assistance as I am only EMT trained and Israelis better trained and more fluent in Hebrew stepped. Then I filmed.

I added the annotations because true to fashion anti-semitic people claimed there were no injured Arabs. I would have rather not done that but I understand that it may be hard to sort out what is happening. My hope is this video will squelch the demuhanization levels and show that there is a very real human side that not only doesn't want war but that cares for their fellow man.

  • Bless you, cousins!

    We're really the same.

Respect from a person from Baghdad :)

  • @satoofi93 Very true we are all given the same opportunity to make choices in this world. It is the difference in what we choose as an individual and as a group that either allows us peace or gives us war. If we go back to the root and start over as family and analyze and discard the sillyness, we find our peace. Oneness in truth.

  • Isn't that what they are trained to do? Do we need to give them a medal for treating arabs the same way as they treat their own jews?

  • No need to give medals. It is basic humaity to help your fellow man. In reality there are many people who would not help regardless who was in the car.

The video just wakes some people up to the reality.

They are trained soldiers, yes but the bus of soldiers I do not believe is obligated to stop at traffic accidents. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • i am proud of everysingle israeli !!!!!!!!!!

  • Israelis are human beings and have their problem people too. Not everybody here is perfect or helps out. If you are proud of "every" single Israeli then you are being unrealistic and destine to be disappointed. Isrealis like all nations have room for improvement.

  • Indeed. If we go back to the Arabs and Hebrews roots, you'll find that at some point, they were the same.

  • Nice teamwork!

  • ive always loved israelis and arabs, they are both lovely people, i always have a great time over there

  • this is what happens every day. It's just that most medias around the world love to dramatise and make Israel look bad.

  • It's nice to see stuff like this, especially in this part of the world.

  • The war would've ended years ago if people saw these things more often...

Negative images only cause more hate...

    Both sides have their extremists...

    Thanks for sharing!
