Stealing Hearts: Chapter 31

Nick's POV
It was 4:51 AM. That means the incident happened over 18 hours ago. I was sitting on that exact couch where.. yeah.. I was leaning on the left arm of the couch, just thinking. A couple feet away, sat Joe doing the same to the right arm of the couch. 18 hours. Just sitting here. We didn't have anyone. Kevin wasn't around to here to help us. I missed him. I wanted him home. And the only other person I could talk to about this..
Kat's gone.
I jumped. The words scared me. My eyes retraced where the voice came from. Joe's eyes met with mine. It finally hit him.
She-- I couldn't bring myself to finish. Guess I couldn't say the same for me.
I watched as Joe pulled his phone out. He began to lift his thumb to text something. He hesitated. Lifted it again. Brought it down. Then chucked it at the carpet. I stared at the phone then back at him. I could tell he was trying to text Kat.. I watched as he leaned his head back and closed his eyes. It was dark, obviously, but I swear.. one sliver of the moon casted through the window caught but one part of Joe's face- right where a tear slid down. His eyes opened and he turned his head slightly towards me. Some impulse, an energy, came over us at that exact moment. It sent us standing face to face, and within a millisecond, we were hugging and inside we both knew we had to fix this situation immediately. And right then, and there, the energy flowed through me like energy surging through wires- energy that knew where it was going, its exact destination, where it's meant to be. We finally confidently both said, I love Kat., let go, and as we looked into each other's eyes, the energy had taken over our bodies. Just like the energy flowing through the wire, right then and there, I knew where I was going, my exact destination... We smiled at each other...--
Get packing, bro. It's gonna be a long day. he grinned and started to run up the stairs.
I knew where I was meant to be.
