NEW WILMINGTON, Lawrence County-- The political spotlight shines on two slates of candidates running for Westminster's Student Government Association (SGA). Voting in the elections begin is now underway and continues through Friday.For the first time in three years, the election features a contested field of candidates. On Tuesday night Jeremiah Patterson and Travis Gulling faced off in a debate with their assembled team members on Berlin Lounge stage. In addition to political queries presented by a moderator, the audience also offered comments and questions.
Both slates promise to address issues involving student activities such as Volley Rock as well as computer lab access, library hours and efforts to bring a wireless computer network to campus.
Gulling is a junior studying public relations. Patterson is a junior majoring in broadcast communications.
