Thousands of people from all over Rochester, NY and the surrounding suburbs came to say goodbye to Midtown Plaza. This great shopping mall was the lifeblood of downtown Rochester for over 30 years. Sadly, it will be demolished in 2010 in order to make way for PAETEC's World Headquarters. PAETEC is a telecommunications company located in Fairport, NY.

  • We used to go every Christmas to ride, see the clock, shop and see Santa in the 70's and 80's. It is great to see these videos now.

  • Thanks Andrea.

  • Whats that little car rail thing for going around the inner part of the mall just for decoration ?

  • That is actually the Monorail and it was used as a holiday attraction at Midtown Plaza for 34 years. Who knows where this may end up next.

  • @Comptekhs It was a ride for the kids.

  • Oops, I left that part out.

  • The Midtown Plaza was a favorite of mine back in the 1960s. Fun place! I once did a radio show from there downstairs near the clock. Sorry to see it all go. :-(
