  • this is how i remember the opry

  • Lewis Crook was my uncle. I have many fond memories of time spent with him at the Opry. I have many, many pictures of the Crook Brothers. They recorded an album years ago that I wish I still had. Thanks for posting the video.

  • @korphed sounds just like outta of a storybook

  • I wish the Grand Ole Opry would return to the good old days; it's just not the same ...

  • Hi,

Floyd Ethridge was my Grandfather's Uncle My e-mail: johnkotila79@yahoo.com

  • Look closely and you can see Miss Alcyone playing the piano!

  • Wonderful. Thank you Crook Brothers and thank you Robert.

  • @tnbear1

My great grandfather was Floyd Ethridge, he played with the Crook Brothers for a few years. I would LOVE to have pictures of him playing his fiddle. We have no pictures or stories of this time of his life. It would mean a lot to my family to have pictures.

Thank you so much for anything you can get us

  • I liked the Opry better too when it was more of a gathering of pickers/singers instead of a slick packaged money machine.

  • @tnbear1 In 1968 I left the farm and moved to Nashville to attend college. Got a job parking cars at L&C parking garage just one block from the Ryman and worked there every Saturday night for a year. Your Uncle Lewis became a good friend, treated me like a grandson, even got me cowboy boots to give my siblings for Christmas. He was a true Southern Gentleman!

  • I wish the Grand Ole Opry was still like this: it just isn't the same! Sad! GREAT vid; five stars!

  • you know that is interesting, but i dont think opry management sees it that way, they officially list him as a member since 1948. The lapse is mentioned in passing, but it seems that since he came back he picked up where left off. interesting.
