Live Laugh Love (A JB Love Story) Ch. 17

[September 14.]
Lilly: Yes! The guys are going to be coming back to LA soon! I'm so happy!
Kelsey: I can't wait to get started planning for Nick's surprise sweet 16!
Court: What?!
Kelsey: Oh that's right we didn't tell you.
Court: Tell me!
[They explain the whole plan to her.]
*****
[Kevin is whispering to Joe.]
Kevin: Did you buy the napkins? And send out the invites? And call Metro Station? And...
Joe:(not whispering) Slow down! I've got it all worked out!
Nick: What are you guys talking about?
Joe: NOTHING!
Kevin: Got to go...bye.
Nick: Huh?
[2 days later. Courtney and Nick are at the beach.]
Nick: What's going on?
Court: What do you mean?
Nick: Everyone has been acting very strange. Like you're hiding something.
Court: Nope. Nothing.
Nick: Okay.
[Later that day. Courtney and Nick arrive and the JB house.]
*Ding Dong*
Nick: Why did you ring the doorbell? This is my house!?
Court: You'll see.
Nick: HUH?!
[Inside everyone is running into a hiding spot. Kevin answers the door.]
Kevin: Come on in.
[Everyone jumps up and yells "surprise!"]
Nick: What the?!
Court: Happy Birthday!
[Miley glances at Courtney then Nick as they hug.]
Joe: Let's party!
[Everyone heads to the backyard. A stage is set up with drums and guitars. Food and a huge cake with 16 candles are set up on a table. There are a few little tables with chairs set around the fence and pool. Joe, Lilly, Kelsey, and some of JB's close family and friends jump into the pool. Nick and Courtney walk up to Miley.]
Court: Hi! I'm Courtney. Nice to meet you.
Miley:(tense) I'm Miley.
Nick: Hey.
Miley: Hey.
Nick: Do you know who's playing?
Miley: Yah...but its a surprise!
Nick: Oh.
Joe: GET IN! THE WATER'S GREAT!!
[Nick quickly pulls off his shirt and shoes. Courtney starts to slip off her tank top but Nick grabs her and pulls her in with him.]
Court: Hey!
[Miley flumes with jealously and goes inside. An hour later JB mom comes out on stage.]
JB Mom: Hey everyone! Thanks for coming! Happy Birthday Nick! We love you. Kevin.
[Kevin grabs mic.]
Kevin: So everyone please welcome Metro Station! Also give a big thank you to our close friend Miley for asking her brother's band to play!
[Metro Station comes on stage and starts playing "Shake It" And everyone dances.] [After a few more songs Kevin stops them and takes the mic.]
Kevin: Thanks guys! You can take a break because its time for cake and presents!
[Nick opens all his presents. Then he blows out his candles and everyone claps. Everyone grabs a slice of cake and sits at the tables. Nick grabs Courtney's hand and drags her inside and upstairs into his room. Miley notices them and follows. Nick and Courtney sit on the bed.]
Court: What's wrong?
Nick: Nothing. I just wanted some quiet.
Court: (Thinks to herself.) This is the perfect time to tell him! Do it now! Courtney be brave and go for it! *deep breath*
Court: (fast) There's something I've been trying so hard to tell you. (slows down) I um really like you. Sorry it took me so long to give you my answer.
Nick: (shocked) You do...
[Miley peeks her head in the door. Nick leans in toward Courtney and presses his lips to hers. Perfect. Miley jumps back in surprise making a loud thump. Courtney and Nick turn and see her on the floor.]
Nick: Miley?!
