Left panel: Random snapshots of a pas de deux (265x305 pixels) preprocessed to reflect a mean photon count of 0.8 per pixel with added background and shot noise, corresponding to a signal-to-noise ratio of -11dB. A random sequence of 10,000 such images was sorted into 870 classes by the Isomap algorithm.

Right panel: Time-ordered sequence of images recovered from the manifold.
