In 1966 the Metropolitan Museum in New York City quietly approached the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with news that it had in its archives ancient Egyptian papyrus manuscripts that once belonged to Mormon (aka LDS) prophet Joseph Smith — manuscripts long thought to have been destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871!

  • The Abraham Papyrus is an absurd fraud and easily disproved. An embarrassment to the Hierarchy . This joke is what Joe conjured up out of his perception of Real Egyptian. He was wrong 100% of the time! Statistically significant but in the wrong direction. So, how much error is there in the Book of Mormon, translated from non existent "reformed" Egyptian for which not a scintilla of evidence exists. And translated with the plates outside and his head in his hat with his pet rock!?

  • @Standard088 Sorry but the point of the matter is that we DO know that the papyrus used by Smith had nothing to do with the "Book of Abraham". How can adults, knowing the overwhelming evidence of fraud, claim that the situation is unresolved or undecided. It's like a child - I STILL believe in Santa.

  • @Standard088 I'm sorry but the point of the matter is that we DO know that the papyrus scrolls used by Smith to created the "Book of Abraham" (LOL) were nothing of the sort. I do not understand how rational folks can still claim this is a mystery or undecided when the evidence is so overwhelming. It's like a chid - I STILL believe in Santa.

  • @smb12321 The point of the matter is no one knows if it is a fraud or not. Only God himself. So who are you going to trust?

  • I hope they''re still not holding their breath since the BOA was proved to be a hoax. . Smith drew the exact letters in the exact sequence as he "translated" Even the picture fragments match. Do Mormons really think god turns black people white if they're "good"? LOLOL

In the light of this fraud, how can anyone think Smith was a prophet or the BOM is "real"? The degree of self-deception & denial is astounding. Maybe as some Mormons say, god changed the evidence to induce faith. LOL

  • and it came to pass i saw dinasours

  • its a fine day when 2 cults start validating each other, but that makes sense since Joe Smith probably read Quran; got his ideas for prophethood, polygamy, extra-Biblical text & human gullibility

    3 points:

    1) the fragments are ancient Egyptian scrolls from the "Book of the Dead"

    2) proves that he did not know how to translate Egyptian, otherwise he would've known

    3) both islam & mormanism can not withstand science; archeology, genetics, textual criticism, history

    got to lie; taqiyya

  • Since when is an Egyptian death scroll a 'canonized' text in the Mormon faith. I'll tell you. It's called DENIAL.

Like an abused spouse who refuses to leave the marriage. Adherence to an apostate religion is no different is it?

  • bruce though wrote this before he was an apostle, and later on corrected it and apologized and said that he said it without revelation on the subject.
