By Ahmad Fannoon & Feras Almahsiry:

- Reproducing pain associated with subacromial impingement (anterior shoulder pain).

- The sign: passively elevating the arm in the plane that is slightly anterior to the scapular plane while stabilizing the scapula.

- This sign is sensitive more than it is specific.

- To improve the sign sensitivity, it should be repeated after subacromial local anesthesia.

- Combined sign & subacromial local anesthesia is referred to as the impingement test.
