9-1-09 Campbell Industrial Park MOD6024 test

Tuesday, September 9th, 2009 11:45am MOD6024 located on Kauahi St, west of Kalaeloa Blvd. 45 second alert, and for the first time, whoop tone HazMat warning signal.

Sorry, recording is not as good as others: Microphone port on my recorder broke so I wasn't able to do binaural sound.

From the CAMPBELL LOCAL EMERGENCY ACTION NETWORK (CLEAN): "In 2002, the Civil Defense sirens in the Campbell
Industrial Park (CIP) complex were reprogrammed with a special tone, specifically for incidents involving hazardous materials. These sirens were used during an exercise called Operation Kalaeloa, which involved a scenario that simulated a mass release of anhydrous ammonia. That exercise was conducted
in May 2002; however, this HAZMAT siren has not been exercised or tested since then.
It has been proposed to test this HAZMAT siren on the first working day of the month immediately
following the regular monthly siren test. Since the HAZMAT siren has not been used for so long, many may not be familiar with the sound of this siren or what it means, so it will be necessary to
re-educate the CIP community. With this in mind, Civil Defense plans to start the HAZMAT siren tests this fall."
