@MrAngel897 It will work on a HDTV. That's what I'm demonstrating on in my YouTube video. I have a mini HDMI cable from the camera that connects to the regular size HDMI connector on the TV. Set your TV input to one of the HDMI inputs. The camera should output from HDMI when you're in video mode. One more check, hit your menu button on the camera and see if you see the menu on the TV.

@MrAngel897 If I'm not mistaken, the 1100D is the same as the T3i in the United States? This should definitely work on the 1100D/T3i. I'm not sure why it's not working for you? The method to make it work on your camera should be pretty much the same as on the Canon 7D. I'm sure you checked to see that your monitor was set to the right input?

@digiemotions I don't think you can use an iPad for an external monitor however, it would be great if you could! I wonder if other tablets have A/V inputs so you can plug a camera or other device into it?

Can i do the same with an Ipad ?

it wont work on my canon 1100D please HELP!!! plZ
Did you test to see if audio was coming into the monitor? Also, curious to know if you were able to disable the white box in the center as well? I'm thinking about getting a Blackmagic capture card to use in studio capturing footage through HDMI for some green screen work...

@stilb1986 I have tested the HDMI connection for audio and it does not output during recording... However, it does output during playback. I'm pretty sure in another video I did, I was able to get rid of the white box in the center of the screen but can't think of how I did it. By the way, I just got a Blackmagic Studio card last week and will test the camera connection with that card sometime soon.

@digitalcamproducer I'm going to buy a BlackMagic Design Intensity Extreme to test this concept with, it just came out and is in stock most places. I tend to go with B&H, but I've seen others. It would be very useful to be able to capture footage via something like Adobe Onlocation so I don't have to transfer footage from camera to the computer.

@stilb1986 I've used OnLocation once for a project years ago and it was really nice to have footage ready to be used right after the shoot. The Decklink cards come with a standalone Blackmagic Media Express video capture utility program and you might be able to use that instead of OnLocation.
