Safe Kids/Hot Cars: Never Leave Your Child Alone

Each year, between 30-40 children die from hyperthermia when left in hot vehicles. To prevent summer tragedies, child safety engineers at GM are working with Safe Kids to offer tips to parents. First, never leave your child alone in a vehicle; small children cannot roll down windows, unlock doors or unbuckle themselves. As a reminder that your child is in the backseat, place your cell phone, purse or briefcase on the floor in front of your child's car seat. Be sure it's something you always carry with you.

In addition, make it a habit to check the back seat when you exit, and call 911 immediately if you see children left unattended in a car. For more tips, go to www.safekids.org.

Sad that people will not forget their briefcase but forget their child. Reality is sometimes hard to believe. Great job GM again for being a company that does truely cares.

I remember in Vegas the car's internal temperature in summer can reach about 300 degrees F or more... I remember hearing a comment from one person saying how you can bake a small cake in your car in summer!

perhaps you could make light weight aerodynamic electric cars so the kids don't damage their lungs from living around cars all their lives..

probably causes just a wee bit more death than 30 per year

Good.... Here in Brazil I heard about 2 little babys who died from hyperthemia.... it's horroble..... Forget the kid in the car is absurd
