This is a video tutorial for a hand-sewn stitch that I found described in Joseph Earnest Liberty's "Practical Tailoring" from 1933. It is a hidden stitch used for when two pieces of fabric need to be seamed together flat with a stitch that does not show on either side. Similar to the prick-stitch, but used for light to normal-weight cloths.

I've changed accounts! All new tutorials will be with the account "SteampunkTailoring"

  • Cool. I'll definitely use this. Reminds me of another great hidden stitch: drop stitch :)

  • i love your voice and your last ha ha !!! je je je keep upload videos please

  • Thanks, I was really looking for this!

  • @Dunetraveller Yeah, after a little more reading, turns out that the stitch is actually called for in various period instructions, but no one actually had a detailed explanation as to how to properly make it. Page 70 of "The Victorian Tailor" that was just released ives a very detailed explanation plus a diagram. Pictures always help.

  • Thanks! I, like you, could NOT find this mentioned anywhere. I changed search terms 9 different times, and still nada. Lots of references to stitch in my side, but not the tailoring reference I was looking for. Good demo as well. Apropos of nothing, I had a similar search meltdown for the "fore stitch" until I discovered, as I suspected, it was just a running stitch. :-)
