Teresa Teng

Teresa Teng was an immensely popular and influential Chinese pop singer.
She recorded songs not only in her native Mandarin but also in Taiwanese, Cantonese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and English.

Teng died from a severe asthma attack while on holiday in Chiang Mai, Thailand at the age of 42.
She was an asthmatic throughout her adult life. Teng was given a state funeral in Taiwan, with the Republic of China flag draped over her coffin and the former president Lee Teng-hui in attendance among thousands in mourning.
