@Slackluster Yeah, I was going to buy some books anyway. Thanks for the reply! Well, there arent really any saplings I could dig up in my yard. I suppose I could look through the little woods area behind my backyard. It wont be what im trying to do, but if I can at least keep it alive until the next spring, ill know im at least somewhat competent and then can try seed or cuttings from trees in my yard. With how the housing market is, I wont be moving any time soon :).

Do you think I could use this as a sort of training before I start growing my own bonsai? I have an idea to grow and maintain bonsai from the seeds of some trees from my backyard. Dogwood, hemlock, chestnut, apple, pear, and magnolia are what im planning on growing so far. I might do more. Ill eventually be moving and it will be taking a memory in tree form of the house I grew up in.

@LotusDragon09 I recommend not growing a bonsai from seed. You are better off digging up a sapling in the fall (after it's leaves fall off), then cut it down to a stump and prune its roots some to fit in a small pot. This program can help supplement learning but its really crucial to read up.

Thanks! There's a lot of work to be done, better graphics would be nice, but at this point I'm still more concerned with realistic growth simulation and adding more features.
