  • @someonewhothinks If anyone doesn't "get" it, it's people like this Burgard fellow who neglect to address the forces driving both immigration and drug trafficking. We invite human labor migration when we support free trade agreements that systematically drive down Mexican wages. As for the drugs trafficking, we won't see an end to that until Americans stop demanding it. Troops, fences, laws: none of these stand a chance of holding up against survival impulses or market demands, respectively.

  • @rafrafc ... Chris B. has numerous good answers/solutions to the problems -- all thoughtful and based on what he's learned talking with people on the border (it's "border" by the way, not "boarder") through his experience creating the documentary. With potentially 38 million people in the U.S. illegally, many of those by way of the southern U.S. border, this is a real problem. How can anyone not "get" this?

  • This guy's a joke. Troops.... really? That's your best answer? More troops on the boarder? That sure sounds like a one step response to me, and laughable one at that. No mention of NAFTA? No time to talk about the insatiable demand for drugs in this country? Shit, you could have said "build the danged fence" and I'd have been more impressed. Not by much, though.

  • @apsloate I am with you " my friend I have never met". It is NOT about race or national origin. It is about respecting the laws of this great country and keeping this country and its citizens safe. Period. What the Obama Administrations is doing is eroding the borders of this country......and soon the borders of the States with the Obamacare forced medicare/medicaid. God Bless you and keep up the fight!

  • This social issue will always be a deterrent to anyone who follows/does not follow immigration reform as a whole in the US. I can see no improvement within the near future, even regarding this new Senate Bill 1070 which will be in affect tomorrow. Money is greed - The fat suited man bellows as he smokes his cigar ...

  • @DawnellaW : Not sure what you mean by that. If you are trying to change the subject, shame on you. The issue is illegal crossing of the border. When someone wants to comet o the U.S. to live/work/play, they must follow the laws of the country. Otherwise they are illegally in the the country. Race is not a determining factor. Violation of our laws is the issue.

  • "ILLEGAL" IS NOT A "RACE".
