A huge 4-engine Coulson flying tanker The Hawaii Mars fills up and takes off. The 7200 gallons of water from Lake Elsinore was dropped on the north side of Mt. Wilson and, very likely, saved all the comm towers from the firestorm.

It was fascinating. I filmed this then watched the news. I watched it drop the 30-ton load of water from my backyard with near-perfect precision. My TV glitched as the overspray hit the towers. They certainly fullfilled their promise to "make it rain."

I shot landing on their return. It 's on the channel, check it out.

  • I've been in the military for 23 years. Jumped out of airplanes and helicopters, flown on the C-12 ,C-21, C-130. C-235, C-141, C-17, C-5, IL-76, KC-10, KC-8, Hueys, Blackhawks, Pumas. I've even been to a space shuttle launch. There is nothing, NOTHING more impressive than seeing one of these bad boys take to the air. The only thing I may want to see more is the Saunders Roe Princess, but that will never happen.

  • @fourfortyroadrunner how to make a short runway longer.

  • LOL 1:33 1:36, you see a fish jump out of the water

  • @fourfortyroadrunner I expect it was for show..

  • What on EARTH (or "water") was that big huge S turn at about 1:10??

  • I posted this with a better headline.

  • Awesome machine, awesome pilots, awesome sound, awesome imagery, and a pretty darn good shot too. Thanks for capturing and sharing this!
