The 1st Dar Jazz Event - Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

An international team of artists converge upon the city of Dar Es Salaam for one week of music development via seminars, clinics, jam sessions and concerts.

Prime beneficiaries are the local musician community, music fans, and most importantly, the talented youth at NGO Tanzania House Of Talent (THT).

THT provides gifted youth from marginal backgrounds with the means through which they are able to develop their abilities within the fields of music, drama, and dance.

After 5 years of operation, THT has nurtured top dancers and award-winning music artists in Tanzania, while the drama department has created the Theater in Schools program, which is designed to educate school children throughout the country on important social issues such as HIV and Malaria.

The Dar Jazz Event is an annual affair focused on being a catalyst for the development of a healthy music infrastructure in Tanzania, which will in turn provide a support system for careers in the music industry which are sustainable over the long term.

The 1st Dar Jazz Event was a resounding success, and planning for the 2nd Dar Jazz Event in March/April 2012 is already underway.
