Meet Brian. He is a viewer just like you who used my videos to restore a 1959 Aljo Canned Ham Trailer and is now getting ready for paint. Brian stopped by my place on the way to the painter's to show me a problem he had with the metal skin on the front by the tongue. This problem of buckling is one that has come up before and now we know what causes it. Unfortunately I think there is too much damage to the metal to repair it properly so even after we fix the problem it will still need a gravel guard to hide the kinks. But if you plan on using your trailer a lot then there is nothing wrong with a gravel guard anyway.

  • P.S. Looks like Brian did a very good job.

  • @Desertphile He did. But I forgot to cover the optional framing that goes at the bottom. That is covered in the next video.

  • I hope we get to see the Aljo after it has been painted.

  • @Desertphile You will.

  • Bummer about the front metal buckling. I assume there is a vapor barrier behind it.

  • @Desertphile Yes...

  • @cheapswede Well now I know what causes it so I have to get busy today and post the next video because I was able to fix it.

  • Mine did that in the rear right at the bottom. I just put in more screws.

  • @sabresierra Oh the poor Westerner is still sitting there untouched but I do camp in it. The inside is pretty nice now but she needs a paint job bad. Maybe this spring I can get a coat of paint on her. The website should be back up tomorrow. Thanks for letting me know as I haven't been there today.
