  • @GlitzPianoman i am sorry to upset you but i think it is amazing that elton john would have the courage to make money that it took to profess a woman when in facr he dont desire females. what courage the (falsely) "great" elton john has.

by the ay it is not a great song it is just that it took people by surprise...like the human league.

  • @Rib5 Elton's 1976 band was Davey Johnstone and Caleb Quaye (guitars), Kenny Passarelli (bass), Roger Pope (drums), Ray Cooper (percussion), James Newton-Howard (keyboards). I'm not sure about the backing vocalists.

  • @pbrick6301 Except that Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics, and he's heterosexual. Elton has certainly sung romantic and even sexually-driven lyrics about women before. In turn, Bernie has written songs that are either gender-neutral or gay-friendly lyrics for Elton as well.

  • elton john may of actually been to a island but it is unlikely he would of been interested in a girl. that makes this song what woody hayes used to call a "enigma".

  • @Rib5 Davey Johnstone on guitar/vocals (of course). Ray Cooper on congas/vibes. Roger Pope on drums. Those I know for sure.

  • Anyone know who the other guys playing are?

  • This song has an awesome bass line.

  • Yep, at Wembley.

  • This was indeed 1977.
