@LordInksworth i am not trying to be toooo insulting, but most painters where i am from make good money, they just drink their money away! smoking and drinking! i bet if the average guy who says "i do 'x' for a living and can not afford 'y' "probably spends too much coin on his or her habitual pleasures. people who buy quality usually practice self control. my apologies if this is not you.
not that i dont like it,it just looks like alot of settup to me. time is money.unless it is a custom job, where the customer really doesnt care how long it takes.
i have some of the festool gear jigsaw planer drill and plunge saw and the chop saw as for the kapex chop saw i hate it i lift my trusty dewalt 708 b4 i take the festool to do any 2nd fix work , festool need to get some major problems sorted out it not worth half the money they charge the drill is fine ,it is a drill itd light and has good power but so is the panasonics overpriced again the planer jigsaw and plunge saw are great and no problems with them they have been on sites now 4 years
I bought a MacAllister router (B&Q) and the thing broke the first day as I was routing a worktop. I tightened the collet and the thread stripped. I'd go for Festool if the prices were more realistic. I'm a painter, though, so can't justify buying.
They are good--damn good--but the price is an issue. On the other hand, some of the tools allow me to work so much faster and more accurately that I think they pay.
These tools are extremly well engineered but as a professinal carpenter and joiner I still can not justify the purchase of Festool tools because of the price tag. Consequently I've never tried one. They do look like a tool for the pro though. Thanks for posting.
