@redplatypus98 ...this may be why some of the most painfully normal and boring people I know grew up in suburbs, and the more eccentric/creative/progressive and individual people are generally drawn to high-population density cities. Think about the weird, interesting people, and where they come from (strange fashion, ideas, etc.). Now think about a sweater-vested "normal" guy with neatly combed hair and quaint ideas regarding tradition/patriotism and likes cars. Where is he likely from? Suburbs

@redplatypus98 I have spent some time living in cookie-cutter suburbs and there are no "places" - just houses, roads, and individually standing McDonalds/Walmart/KFC buildings, where you would be extremely noticed doing anything parkourish - there is no sense of public space and in suburbs one's scrutiny is magnified because there are simply less people. In places with less people, the slightest eccentricity stands out ten-fold, and may make traceurs reluctant to train.

@redplatypus98 This is why most interesting movements (cultural/artistic/intellectua
l) are fostered in urban cities - interaction is high and organic, and people are forced to expose themselves to diff. ideas and perspectives...in suburbs you can insulate yourself - stay in your car, stay in your office, get in your car, stay in your suburban home. Then get in your car, drive directly to the store you need, get those items, back in your car, with nothing along the way to stimulate you, then home -
@redplatypus98 The answer lies in the architecture and other geographical factors. In America in general, one is forced to drive long distances to individual places (suburbanism), and most architecture consists of big-box stores and disjointed buildings that are far apart. Every suburb looks the same - uninteresting and the same stores everywhere, with no actual pathways. The pedestrian's worst enemy is the suburban environment - it discriminates against walkers and caters to automobiles.
