Not uploaded anything for a while as now back playing live, and too busy. But just for a quick one - this is an improv over a backing track from the talented steviesnacks (his very impressive take on it can be found elsewhere on youtube). It's a little rough around the edges, but it is a genuine improv - this was the first time I had ever played over the track, one take and all on the fly.

  • oh god i can feel the vibration of your bending in my stomach... really impressive style. Love it :)

  • @gennyvegeta Thanks for the comment!

  • what size strings are you using? and what about your amp and pedals?

  • I think I was using 9s, with heavier bottom strings. It was through a Yamaha DG100, which is a very nice modelling amp with built in effects.

  • sweet. thanks man. after hearing your tones, ive decided not to switch to 10s. what gauge are the bottom strings?

  • I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys - 9-46. I find on a Strat they give that bell-like tone on the high notes with plenty of fat tone in the bass. I tried 10s, but playing with fingers I found I couldn't get the subtleties and the big bends I get with 9s, and to be honest I don't think it makes that much difference to tone - 13s might, but I like to keep my fingers in one piece!

  • I really like this, it demonstrates that you dont really need lots of notes and scales to be expressive, nice one.
