Red-Tailed Hawk calls are heard on the camera followed by a hawk landing on the nest. I didn't see any tell-tale red tail, so maybe it was a young red-tail? Or another hawk?
I'm having a hard time recognizing this as a Red-Tailed Hawk. I'm not denying it is, nor putting forth an argument that it is not one. I'm just stating I'm having difficulty finding familiarity in the bird's anatomy & proportions. Like the tail seems short, for instance. It is difficult to find the line between the background & the raptor. __ Oh well. I guess I have much more to learn! __ Regarding the call: definitely the call off-cam is a Red-Tailed Hawk.
I feel the same way, which is why I didn't put red-tail hawk in the title. It's definitely a raptor, and the calls are definitely a red-tail hawk, but it doesn't look like any red-tail hawk I've ever seen. Maybe it's the cause of the red-tail's calls?
