Jazz Meets Mozart - Impressions of Amadeus

Jazz Quartet and String Quartet explore the possibilities of combining jazz and the music of Mozart. This work is one of many that was commissioned by the Perth Concert Hall as part of the 250th Anniversary Celebrations for Mozart's Birth. Artistic director and key arranger Michael Pigneguy was joined by Michael Nelson and Grant Windsor. This work 'Impressions of Amadeus' includes no specific Mozart themes (unlike all other pieces in the program) however it seeks to create a work in a style that Mozart may have chosen if he had access to both a jazz and string quartet. Featured performers in the jazz quartet are Jamie Oehlers (sax), Tom O'Halloran (Piano), Sam Anning (Acoustic Bass) and Michael Pigneguy (drums).

I loved the structure of the piece; the whole mood was created towards intensive in the end .. I still would've liked to listen the rest of it. The transitions were great, no doubt about it. *****
