Phillip Sheridan, Barrister at Law addressed the Property Rights Australia AGM at Emerald in June 2010. The current Vegetation Control Legislation is totally uneccessary and leads to the exact opposite of what it's designed to do: preserve native flora and protect biodiversity. Farmers are at the mercy of the DNR which can change the Regional Ecosystem Map without reference to any owner. If a farmer clears land that has had its classification changed, they are in breach of the legislation and can be prosecuted. A farmer is guilty until proven innocent.
