@Wally773MTG - settle down. My comment didn't address any of that, only the interpretation. I think we can all agree that making this music available to people is a good thing; my (rather fair) comment questioned whether the understanding was there. A whole week, you say? Perhaps 5 minutes could have been spent on doing something with the piece, in relation to the text? Perhaps it was, I don't know. Anyway as singer1924 said, don't 'youtubise' it, and expect to get wholly positive comments!

@Crawfy7 and also, for the record, this group of dedicated amatuer singers had no more than a week to rehearse this piece...
-
@Crawfy7 the majority of these people are what I would call "weekend warriors" or students....lay off man. They paid a bunch of money to go and have a good time with some of the tallis scholars and learn some stuff too (thereby financially contributing a great deal to the tallis scholars I might add). You should be happy that this many people are willing to sacrafice their time and money to do this sort of thing...it means that the music you clearly love is still thriving!

@Crawfy7 Can't say it better. This interpretation doesn't serve the music well enough to be worth youtubising it. The notes are there (note quite in tune though) but not the semantics and the guts.
-
As I said, we need to find a way to make these people more happy, so why don't we ask them to come back for a repeat performance?
-
I am in awe----I lamented-----lamentations are in order.... Signed, The Lamenter

Well, you sang the notes. Did anyone know what the translation of the Latin is? Passion and understanding is required of this music, whether in a performance, or an offering in worship; after all, it was written for people with this understanding.

LUCKY! I will definitely do their summer school some day!

Thankyou for posting this lovely music.

@Crawfy7 They're not obviously not a professional group, but at least they are bring this music to people who wouldn't otherwise hear it.
I know there are other non-professional groups who can sing very well (I note you posted a recording from Hatfield Chapel. I am an ex- chorister and sacristan from Castle, so I *know this*) but I don't think denigrating others for their efforts is helpful or kind, especially not towards those who may not have had the opportunities we have been afforded.
