The only point of a shaved bat is to have an ego booster at BP. Homeruns are fun to hit and these allow you to do it. They shouldn't be used in league games.

Shaved bats are extremely dangerous because they allow the ball to come off the bat faster than the pitcher can react. If a particular league doesn't have a "protect the pitcher" rule (i.e. no line drives back at the pitcher) a person can be serious hurt or even killed by someone using a shaved bat. In either case, I believe the person using the illegal bat can charged with a crime or at least sued.

True, I agree that bat rolling is ok. In all honesty though, why would you? I'd rather go out for some long BP sessions and get a few hundred swings on it, that way I'm getting practice too.

Shaving is horrible though...if you are caught using a shaved bat, you can go to jail! If you hit a 3rd basemen with a ball and he gets hurt, all it takes is someone to investigate it and you're done. Don't even think about it guys...

I dont see the problem with rolling a bat.. Seriously its only breaking up the layers of carbon in comp bats witch is the same EXACT thing as hitting the ball. Only in a less time consuming and safer way.

How true it is. Anyone that uses a shaved bat IS a LOSER!!!!! Altered bats are ruining the game of slowpitch softball. No one can tell me that the bat manufactures can't design a bat that if someone attempted to alter it, it would ruin the bat.(that would be great) It's a shame that we have to leave it to them to come up with a way rather than some pathetic loser manning up and play without cheating.
