This song is based on the true story of an elderly couple from Texas who drove to a nearby family reunion and kept going.When they disappeared, a reporter wrote a series of articles about them. Fastball bassist Tony Scalzo came up with the idea for the song after reading the articles.He "pictured them taking off to have fun, however, he found out after writing the song that the couple had died.They were found at the bottom of a canyon in Arkansas about a 3-day drive from their destination.
