Ever wanted a corset for something but not felt confident in your ability to make one? Well this tutorial will show you how to make a swiss-waist style corset. This is probably the simplest type of corset for a beginner. It looks great, it's not too uncomfortable, and it's easy to make. Perfect for cosplaying or LARPing, or even as a belt over an everyday outfit!

You will need:
-about 1/4 of a meter of fabric (or less!)
-light or medium interfacing
- about 2 feet of plastic whalebone type boning, with a fabric casing
-thread.

  • Luv it!! You could wear it with tunic top, blue leggings n your pinupheels or boots! I love how the corset accents curves. I hope to make n jewel it, maybe glue some crystals. ROCK IT EVANGESTYLE!

  • great job!! i have a question though do you think if the back was altered slightly to come up higher in the back this would work and be comfortable? i want to wear it over a dress.....thanks

  • It must hurt to wear that

  • From all the videos I've seen from pros and novices, this is the first useful one I found. Simple and clear, I could easily see how I would change to make it right for me, it's a great pattern to start with.

  • you are very nice, i learnt many things .thank you.

  • @tonytontony1 Are you pointing that out because your an asshole??

Or because you have no talent and want to put her down?

  • The "natural curve" of the boning is just from being rolled up and packed that way. If you run a warm iron over it, it'll flatten out(be pateint though, dont want to melt the plastic). Good job with tutorial :)

  • She's right; she can call it whatever she wants.

It's just a corset! Corsets come in all sizes.

If you want to be VERY technical, I think it might be a waist cincher.

But since I am NOT that technical, it's a corset!

Sweetie, pay them no mind. You did a wonderful job on this.

  • @ToriaDumOfTheTweedle That analogy didn't make any sense at all. She's right, most of the world understands a corset to be something worn around your waist that might lace up. Yes, real corset makers know better, but for the majority of today's people, they would look at that and call it a corset-thing. They wouldn't look at duct tape/calamari and call it a Victorian gown. It *is* essentially a belt, but no one looking for this STYLE of belt is going to find it otherwise.

  • @Evange Me too, but hey, at least oily skin means moist skin, which means less wrinkles, go us!
