Some of the fattest big band blues you'll ever hear. Willie Smith & Snooky Young have some great moments here. :)

  • YES!!

  • Glad you enjoyed it, swan. :)

Some of the thanks goes to fellow YouTube user "donbenham1", though - he requested this and a few other Lunceford 78's. Then, temptation got the better of me & I ended up raiding my "Lunceford suitcase" & recorded another 10 sides or so. ;)

  • Indeed, such crystal clear sound! The melody is so smooth... Great piece. Thanks for posting!

  • You're very welcome, jen. :)

Yeah, these are straight line recordings - no EQ, nothing. The pickup is doing an amazing job. ;)

  • NICE! Very clean. What record. Imagine hearing this band live! Man, that would have been INCREDIBLE!

Very clean and fantasic fidelity. Thank, Mark!

  • You bet, Don. :)

I have plenty more Lunceford (17 more) sides to come later on this evening. :)

  • One of my favorite Lunceford recordings. I like to imagine most of the guys toked up before this "head" arrangement was cut; the vibe in the studio is just electric. December 14, 1939; I wish I could have been there.

  • Very cool. thanks!!
