FingerPlay MIDI - Android phone as a control device.

Me demonstrating an Android application called FingerPlay MIDI. It allows you to connect your Android phone to a computer running a virtual MIDI driver, and use it as a control surface.

I put this together in a whole three minutes, so forgive the crappy samples I'm messing with. You could do many cooler things with this app, but I just wanted to demonstrate it connecting and operating. The phone is broadcasting via cellular internet connection, so theoretically I could have wandered outside and ridden a bus to Brazil while running it as a control device on my home PC.

I did not make this program nor am I affiliated with it. This was a beta (version 0.5.0), available for free on Android Market.

There is now a new version with more features.

Well, the audio USED to be fine, and sometimes it seems to kick back in if you fiddle with the HQ settings. Oh well, I'm sure there are much better vids of the newest version being used for something cooler.

this has so much use for remote-controlling computer music for, say, theater. the 4 sliders could map to master volume and then basic EQ (low, mid, high). if there was a play and stop button, that would add a lot. read app dude!

Is there a way to make my android *tablet* into a midi controller ?

Via USB though, because WIFI has a huge latency.
