This is the most practical and effective commercial rig for performing this classic comedy and clown routine. No longer are you limited to using it as an opening number. I'd been wearing the gear for 2 hours or so when this vid was shot. This isn't my favorite personal performance of this effect. I was a bit rushed and I had a minor technical problem (not the thing where it's caught on my [deleted] that's intentional!). So if you want to say the performance sucks, be my guest and I won't argue back too hard. There are a couple of things to note though. First of all, the cut and restored quicky in the beginning is only there to give me an excuse to lead into Professor Cheers Comedy Rope routine. That having been said, notice how well the audience reacts to this old chestnut that I was using as a throw away. Again I want people to know that classics still play well as entertainment and a magic trick will still amuse and mystify even if you've seen it exposed on YouTube or by Valentino wearing a mask on fox. Most normal audiences don't spend their nights cruising YouTube looking for secrets that they'll never use. Also, I wanted to give a plug for this setup. I have it at The Village Wizard. The gear isn't cheap ($100 - $125) but for pros it makes this effect more practical than I've ever seen it. If you perform for kids or in nightclubs this effect is easliy worth it's weight in cold hard cash and I can tell you that I'm often asked to do "The trick with all that rope". If I can answer any questions for you or send you the props and instructions, please get in touch with me over at www.thevillagewizard.com.
