  • Was your guide named Oxanna by any chance? Extremely strong climber that one

  • She was! Yeah she's a tough woman, that's for sure. Her son is also a guide but she doesn't like him climbing, because she feels it's too dangerous :D

  • Do it soon! Pilgrim only charge 560 euros for an all-inclusive 8-day trip.

  • Who did you climb with? Or did you organise it yourself?

  • Myself and a friend joined a group organised by "Pilgrim Tours" which is a Russian company used by Adventureworks for their Elbrus trips. We booked direct with Pilgrim. There were also 2 Israelis, 2 Spaniards and 2 Norweigans

  • to equate it to steroids is rediculous. I don't climb the mountain to boast to my friends or to win a competition. I climb for the experience.

  • What is the point?

to allow 2 keen 18 year old with not a lot of experience to get to the top of beautiful mountain. The ratrak cut out 2 hours of climbing in our 12 hour day and by the end of the day i was exhausted enough to fall asleep in the snow. It was an amazing experience and it doesn't matter how hard the climb was or where you start, we had an amazing day with amazing views and made it to the top of the highest mountain in europe.

  • shame ye took the ratrak though... We climbed with Pilgrim in 2005. Only myself and 2 others went to the summit from the barrels. the 2 guys got ratrak back coz they were f**ked after the climb. I was the only one of 16 to walk up and down... :)

  • Nice video. We've been on top at the end of march, good conditions, but a lot of ice. Anyway, nice to see this picture, it wakes memories...

  • Hope to get Visas and climb Mt Elbrus this August, not long to plan but still hope it works out. We checked out Pilgrim Tours and now planning to go with them. I trust you had no problems/concerns at all then. Cheers, Great Video by the way!!!

  • Thanks for the info, and congrats on summitting! I hope to do this one day...
