Tech 911 Inc

I did a story on a new small business opening up in Warwick called, Tech 911 that specializes in repairing computers. It's a small company that will eventually hire ten people. I thought, that's not a lot, but after I talked to one of the new hires about his new job, he really drove the point home about what it means to be highly qualified and not being able to find work.

Brian Goikman was hired as the service manager and he shared with me how hard this economy has been on new college grads saying,"it is very frustrating, if you have the skills and experience to do the work, any type of work and not be able to get a job because the job's not there. It's incomprehensible to just sit on your hands and do nothing."




Mike Aubin was also hired and he had been out of work for year, after being laid off from job he loved. He didn't want to share his story with me on tape, but echoed the same sentiments as Brian, that there is a huge young workforce out there that is highly-trained, but have no opportunity to show what they can do.

When I asked the owner of the new business did he take advantage of the so-called stimulus money that's supposed to help jumpstart small businesses, he said no, and that it's tough nowadays to get the banks on-board when it comes to getting a loan. His two new employees are grateful that their new boss was able to work something out. Hopefully, more small businesses like Tech 911 will provide more opportunities for people who want to do one thing, be self-sufficient and take care of their families.
