Today we'll talk about how doing ab exercises such as crunches will not give you the toned and sexy abs you really want.
Losing belly fat around your waist by doing hundreds of crunches is a futile effort that wastes your time.
There's so many overhyped abs exercise machines out there that promise to help you burn fat and give you ripped sixpack abs in only 20 minutes a week.
But we all know those claims are just not true
Here are three great tips for getting the abs you really want.
#1 Do the right exercises to help you lose fat
A common myth out there is that you need to do lots of ab exercises in order to lose fat.
The truth is that in order to burn body fat you must you do total body exercises.
Trying to spot reduce the fat around your waist will simpky not work.
The best way is a synergistic approach that involves total body or strength training, smart cardio and a healthy diet based on your body type and metabolism.
When you burn calories and lose fat you will burn fat in the same proportion all over your body.
So if you want to lose belly fat and get six pack abs, you'll need to shift your focus away from just at exercises and take a more holistic approach that involves doing training cardio and a great diet.
#2 Use Circuit Training In Your Workouts.
Your abs are different from the other muscles in your body.
For example in order train your biceps, you might do a few sets of different exercises while taking a minute to rest in between each set.
However when training your abs you'll want to perform exercises that alternate between your upper lower and side abs, also called your obliques while minimizing the rest time between each set.
This gives you the greatest benefit in the biggest gains for your abs.
#3 Feed Your Abs to Build Muscle
Just like your body needs the right nutrients to grow, your abs need the right foods if you want to get more definition.
In general if you just want to lose body fat, you can be more flexible in your diet.
However if you want ripped six pack abs, you must pay more attention to the food you eat and really commit to your workout schedule
Remember, next to exercise, your diet is the most important key to getting six pack abs.
One food you definitely want to stay away from is what we call quick carbs.
These are carbohydrates found in foods such as white rice, white bread, fruit juices and junk foods. These refined foods are very easy for your body to breakdown and convert to energy.
As a result they can easily raise your blood sugar and cause your body to release more insulin which promotes fat storage.
If you are going to eat these quick carbs, try to do so in the morning and in small quantities.
That way your body has the whole day to burn it off.
Don't forget, Knocking out hundreds of crunches and situps isn't going to help you burn those bad carbs off!
A better approach would be to eat lots of protein, good fats, and complex carbs.
Complex carbs are great because they actually require your body to use calories to digest them.
For example, look at fiber. Fiber is a complex carb that is very hard for your body to break down during digestion.
In fact, your body has to work so hard to break down foods like fiber that is needs to use extra energy during the process.
Fiber also doesn't cause your blood pressure to rise!
So in summary, you have learned that doing exercises alone will not help you lose stubborn belly fat and get those toned six pack abs.
You also learned to use interval training to get maximum results in your workouts.
