Good old Discovery Channel! Documentary serial "Wings" and its part "Wings of the Red Star" with narrator Sir Peter Ufimtsev provided the first objective and accurate presentation of Soviet made military aircrafts to the World, right after the fall of the former USSR.
Not like the crap Discovery sells world-wide today.
Following aircrafts are described in this film: Me-262, Me-163 Comet, Gloster Meteor, MiG-3, MiG-9, BI-1, I-250, Bell XP-59A, I-270, I-300, Yak-9, Yak-15, Yak-17, I-310, MiG-15, Yak-30, La-15, F-86 Sabre, B-29, MiG-17.

  • Holy crap I live in Burlington vt and ive never seen this.

  • Another great upload that's much appreciated man. I have a feeling I'm going to go on a binge watching these. Not only are they so well done and informative but it's kind of nostalgic to watch these. =)

  • Thank goodness for Kurt Tank and Hans Multhopp. That's all I have to say ;)

Also, Peter Ustinov. Without him, 'Wings of the Red Star' would be a mere shadow of it's greatness.

And we can't forget the gentleman whose name I can't recall. He wrote the beautiful score to the series. A triumph.

I really do miss the days when the Discovery Channel actually took their name seriously, and encouraged DISCOVERY!

  • a beauty

  • Old discovery channel was awesome.

  • My grandfather used to work on Mig's a as a engineer both design and field tests.

  • @009ijn I am very surprised as well, with so deep insight and all those details they provide about each aircraft, which I've never heard before. It is indeed a great documentary.

(with 2 episodes as an exception... without Ustinov they suck). :)))

  • @BitnikGr please upload these videos i have already seen these on history channel but i watch them again n again .such videos give me inspiration
