i have had piriformis troubles for a few months it wasnt untill two weeks ago it caused an unbelievable amount of pain. i was immobile for about an hour. it still hurts alot and im finally going for a massage but man even thinking of putting pressure on it hurts so im excited but not at the same time

@usherzlady Yes, I highly recommend it. Although...if you really have piriformis syndrome, it hurts like heck. It will even hurt after the massage, but after the "manhandling of your butt soreness" goes away, you'll get some relief from this treatment. It will only last a couple of days though...maybe more if you really do your stretches well. I'm a dancer, so usually I'm hurting after the next class.

This syndrome occurs when the piriformis irritates the sciatic nerve, which comes into the gluteal region beneath the muscle, causing pain in the buttocks and referred pain along the sciatic nerve. This referred pain is known as "sciatica." 15% of the population has their sciatic nerve coursing through the piriformis muscle. This subgroup of the population is predisposed to developing sciatica.
