Carlton Cinema broadcast on UK tv between 1998 and 2003 and was initially only available through "ITV digital" which is now freeview. Over that period the channel screened approximately 4500 different feature films, including a vintage British Film from the 40s, 50s or 60s every afternoon at 5p.m. Sorely missed, the channel eventually folded because it couldn't negotiate a deal with SKY to get onto satellite, and the financial crisis at ITV being caused by too much money being committed to buy football rights for ITV digital.

One of the nice things about Carlton Cinema were the excellent trailers. Here is one advertising "The Wrong Arm of the law", with a nice montage of scenes featuring Dirk Bogarde, John Mills, Ann Todd, Oscar Homolka, Michael Caine, Herbert Lom, Michael Redgrave & Jack Warner.
