In 1967 Chris Clark was switched from V.I.P to the Motown label her LP Soul Sounds was released and "Head To Toe" was released as Motown 1114 it was a cover of a song The Miracles did on thier LP Going To A Go Go in 1965

  • no Nick & The Jaguars were in 1959, Debbie Dean was the first white female artist

  • September 9, 1967 is when it was released, not sure when it was recorded

  • just got "introduced" to chris clark's sound tonight! was watching a bbc doku on motown... they played this song and i sat up to listen! when the camera was slowly focused on the singer, i was surprised to see a white woman! she is a great singer! from which album does this song appear? thanks !!!

  • Same here! I perked up as soon as the song started, thinking, "wow, what a song!"

  • It was included on "Soul Sounds." It, along with both complete albums, can be found on the 2-disc "Motown Collection" compilation released in 2005. Great stuff.

  • I enjoyed that doc too. could have gone on for hours & still not covered all the artists.

    The song was released as a single on bothe the American Motown & Tamla Motown labels.

    I think she only made two albums, Soul Sounds & C C Rides Again.

    Don't think it was on either of these. It may have been released later on a compilation album.
