Amrullah Saleh, the former head of Afghanistan's intelligence agency, has cast doubts over President Hamid Karzai's plan to bring stability to the country by holding talks with the Taliban.

He told Al Jazeera that Karzai is making "secret deals" with the Taliban.

Saleh has now started what he calls a grassroots political movement to steer the country clear of the perils he sees it facing.

Al Jazeera's Zeina Khodr reports from the Panjsheer Valley.
