This is an in-depth review video of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10. As configured from Dell Canada, it cost me $559 CAD in March 2009. This Mini 10 is cherry red in colour, uses the Intel Atom Z530 (1.6 Ghz) CPU, has 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, uses Windows XP Home SP3, has a 10.1 inch 16:9 aspect ratio screen (1024 x 576 resolution), a 160 GB 5400 RPM 2.5 inch hard drive, a 1.3 megapixel Webcam, a 802.11g WiFi card, and is powered by a 3-cell 24 WHr battery.

UPDATE: I did some more video tests using Quicktime and Windows Media Player, and while playback was fine (no obvious glitches like with VLC), the quality of the playback wasn't great - the GPU really sucks at scaling video, and artifacts popped up constantly.

  • i have this laptop, and i have a question. Along the left side, above the ac power plug in, what is that slit?

  • @Antkay15 I'd guess it's the Kensington security lock slot, but I don't have this project any longer, so I can't check.

  • is the battery good on this? I bought a dell studio from walmart and ive only had it for maybe 2 years. Its already saying that I have to replace the battery, and the batteries are crazy expensive. Is this a problem for all dell laptops or just the studio model because I really want to get this laptop

  • @keke0183 Every battery has a certain number of charge cycles before it starts to lose its capacity to hold power. Some batteries last longer than others, but it eventually happens to all of them. You don't need to buy official Dell batteries though - they're expensive. You can find third party laptop batteries that are 50% less expensive than the Dell-branded ones. Just do a Web search. :-)

  • This is NOT the HD model, the hd has a broadcom crystal HD that can play HD videos, and has a 1366x768 res that is the HD this is just a regular 1012.

  • @JoelB3783 Apologies for the confusion - I had [HD] in the video title because at the Time (over a year ago), YouTube wasn't indicating which videos were HD, so I put it in the title. I've now deleted it. :-)

  • its good but its slow and long

  • It's a piece of shit I hope Dells main office burns

  • What atom processor is it and what ram is installed??

  • Whats with the judder?

  • i like the lenovo thinkpad x100e better. Do not like the 6-cell that sticks out

    the back tho.

  • *PLEASE!* help me!!! I somehow had this same exact laptop crash and I have heard of people "flashing" it. Could you please post a tutorial of how to do this? If you cant, maybe a link to a video? Thanks so much fror your time!

  • I got this in black, although this is the Mini 1011, so it came with Windows 7 Starter, fuck that! W7 professional on mine :)

  • Yeah, I have the 6-cell battery on my mini 10. It does both shoot out the back, and raise the profile a bit, but wow it gets like 4 days of battery life after that (idle) so it's pretty much worth it.
