Punk is not about a sound or a look..but an atitude and approach to things...and Cash certainly was a punk in his own way. Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis were as well.

why didn't you play the johnny cash version of ring of fire?

i wouldnt call him the "father of punk" but i would say that he left an impact on punk or was an influence for some punk groups and should be recognized of it
