Abbadon broke six seals (the seventh was not broken so the horsemen did not interfere) in order to lure Hells generals for battle terms and take them out for fear that they would loose the endwar since Hell was getting stronger. The counsil knew of this but Abaddon reforged the seals in order to cover its tracks so the council without proof could not enact justice. So they sent war and abbadon was killed and he became the destroyer out of fear when lilith offered the position.

best game ever but the story is a little complicated or atleast I didn't get it :( can some1 help and sum it up ? why did Abaddon become the destroy and why did War go to earth if it hasn't timed out ?
