Is that a Blanic? A super Blanic. Gotta Love USAFA. I used to kick those boys asses at age 14 at the regionals in Littlefield TX.

there is a new program where freshmen can take basic soaring in their second semester. is it conventional to do that, jump in the summer, then upgrade my first semester of 3 deg yer?

hmm, sorry i don't know about that new program for freshman. I do know that upgrading in the fall allows you to apply for the team as a 3 dig. If you don't upgrade until spring, then you can't join the team until 2 dig year. At least that's how it was last year.
So are you a doolie this year?

Lastly, stay active in the soaring squadron, volunteer for random tasks, build your instructional count, and so some potential for future leadership (and fly fairly well). You can apply for the team as a 2 degree or 3 degree (as of 2007 when I graduated). Its easy to teach someone to fly acro safely, its difficult to fly it well.
If you any other questions, you might want to talk to a current team member.
Blue skies,

what does it take to get on the aerobatics team?
flyboy047 3 years ago
Well, first you need to be a cadet at USAFA. If you are, then it just takes some passion and hard work. Take the "Soar for all" program during the summer after your freshman year. You can then apply to become an instructor pilot. If you have a love for flying and the desire to teach (and of course descent grades), that is definatley attainable.
