Looks like a mitre box. Have you ever made a batch of micarta like say, an 8 by 10 piece? I suppose it would be e too hard to compress sufficiently.

I like your comment about how you just have to experiment to find out what works. I have recently started making knives and basically thats what I've been doing. I really appreciate the knowledge you are passing on, and I can't wait to try it for myself.
