Gaudí never spoke spanish and he was an strong catalan independentist, as he represented this feeling in all his works. Exemple: The doorknob of "casa Calvet" is a tick sucking the blood of the catalan flag, as the bird protecting his nest against spanish soldiers at the door of "Palau Güell"; the "star wars" soldiers of "casa Milà" represents those Catalan soldiers who fought against Spanish invasion.

Many spanishyards are continously lieing and trying to appropiate the catalan art/history.
