Matrix # 55198
Now we continue our odyssey into "The Complete Artie Shaw and his Gramercy 5 Recordings, 1940-1945" with "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".
Another little classic - chamber style. :)
The personnel for this December 5, 1940 session are:
Artie Shaw - clarinet
Billy Butterfield - trumpet
Al Hendrickson - amplified guitar
Johnny Guarnieri - harpsichord
Jud DeNaut - bass
Nick Fatool - drums
Dig.....
I had this record when I was a kid, and I've never gotten tired of it. It's a true classic.

Bravo! At last somebody uploads this master piece of Artie Shaw in this YouTube which I have been searching for so long...Oh...fantastic!
Thank you so much SwingMan 1937 for posting!

I thought I'd prefer Barney Kessel's work on these sessions, but Hendrickson has this early Jump Blues uptown thing going for him that I'm just getting hip to. By the way, we need more early Saunders King with horns records up on youtube.

Thanks for posting Artie Shaw's version of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes". I've just put it on my favorite list. I have this piece on an LP...but when I'm on the computer I like to listen to some of my favorite music..which this is.
